Description
"From the chugging arrangements, Allman Brothers-type harmonies and swirling harmonica of 'All I Need' and 'Take a Ride' to the more traditional lament 'Penny Pinchin', the duo mines the rich history of the Blues while keeping it relevant for the new millennium." -Chris Kocher (Press & Sun Bulletin)
BIO
It started as innocently as any other group of high school friends forming a band for the sheer enjoyment of
playing music. Nearly a decade later, it has bloomed into a musical friendship that has endured countless obstacles,
numerous bands, the distance of college, and a variety of adventures with other musicans and groups.
Talented solo artists in their own right, Merkley
and Morgan signify the magic that exists when two
individuals compliment one another to the point of
verging on being a single entity. Think Simon and
Garfunkel, Cephis and Wiggins, or Sonny Terry and
Browny McGee. Now throw in a little Eric Clapton,
John Lee Hooker, Jerry Garcia, Van Morrison, John
Popper, and maybe even a little Led Zeppelin. They are
all musical influences of Merkley and Morgan, and all
trace back to the foundation of Blues.
Throughout the years, Merkley and Morgan have
released several albums individually, and have been
featured as special guests on others. Long awaited, and
long overdue, the two are now celebrating the release of
their first collaboration, entitled "Ordinary Days". The
album is comprised of Blues-based acoustic music, with
songs written by Merkley and Morgan. Whether it is
interpreted as taking place in a single day or over the
course of many years, the album signifys the duo's
experiences together and apart, and their musical quest
for leading anything but an ordinary life. "Ordinary
Days" is the product of great talent, and more
importantly, great friends.
