Description
My name is Michael Tillman. For the last ten years my three brothers John, Tom, Eric and I have been chasing shipwrecks on Lake Erie. As amateur divers we embark every summer on a dive trip around the Ports of Lake Erie. Over the years we have visited many a ship wreck along with many a tall story of ships in peril and lives lost on one of the most treacherous of the Great Lakes. Actually seeing the wrecks laying on the bottom is truly an awesome sight. Inspired, I started writing Erie Diver Down which has blossomed into a album. In the last ten years I have seen remarkable changes in Lake Erie. Divers have found that with the introduction of zebra mussels the clarity of the lake has been greatly increased. Professional divers are amazed at how pristine the Lakes have preserved the wrecks, some of them more than a hundreds years old. Being a musician all my life and growing up on the mouth of the Black River things seemed to come together for the album. The history I have seen, watching American Ship build the Roger Blough, watching the Roger Blough burn in dry dock, seeing the launch of the biggest freighter on the lake at the time.
Too busy making a living, I started recording material in my home studio (Lake Rock Studio ). Twelve string guitar being my favorite instrument. Playing all the instruments on the album was a real challenge. Bass guitar, Keyboards, and Lead guitar as well as all the vocals.
My brother Eric helped out with Lead guitar on a few of the tracks.
