Metropolis
The Mines
Another band? Yes, another band. Another attempt at setting things right with the world, another attempt at waking people up, another attempt at making the kind of music that needs to be made, another group of wandering poets crying out in the wilderness.

Description
The Mines are an epic-indy, pop-rock band from Grand Rapids, MI. The band first started rehearsing in March of 2004. On June 1, 2006, after two years of writing, fine tuning, and recording music together, The Mines released Metropolis, their first full-length CD.
The band is sometimes compared to Maroon 5, The Juliana Theory, Coldplay and Jeff Buckley, but the band would say their influences were U2, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, The Red Hot Chili Peppers and about a hundred other bands. Members Ethan Nickerson, Todd Hoek and Greg Lockwood invited friend Troy Hatfield to join the band in July of 2006 and since that time have been turning heads all over West Michigan.
The band was recently featured in an article in Grand Rapids Magazine and has received favorable reviews in publications such as the Grand Rapids Press, Music Review and Recoil. The Mines began hosting "The Mines Experience" performances that include music, lights and video in October of 2006. The band is planning to unveil an all new "The Mines Experience" in March of 2007.
