Description
Five months into their historic Album-a-Day experiment, Matt Farley and Tom Scalzo of Moes Haven are still going strong.
Lots of people feared that APRIL: WHAT A CRUEL MONTH! was a sign that the boys had finally lost their ways, that they were creatively bankrupt, that the rest of the year would find them producing terrible, aimless, unfinished music.
Fear not. MAY: I BUY YOU A SANDWICH? might just be the best album of the five released so far this year. Unlike APRIL, MAY is easy on the ears, filled with gorgeous melodies, the kind you listen to on a lazy Saturday afternoon. As always, the lyrics are complex, intriguing and sometimes even touching. This is a great Moes Haven album.
MAY: I BUY YOU A SANDWICH? is proof that the boys aren't going to let this monumental task of 365 albums get the better of them. They're up for the challenge. APRIL really was intended to sound the way it sounded. In that month, the boys wanted to put together a bunch of raw, unfinished songs, each with at least one flash of brilliance before it faded out.
Now they're back to the sound that has made them the most exciting band in the world.
We'll see you next month!
