Description
was born in DeLand, Florida and moved to Atlanta in 1990 quickly carving his niche with exemplary musicianship and songwriting. Ripple is a perfect example of such mature insight, dealing with spiritual growth and metamorphosis. Fiery, dueling guitars tame the spirited lyrics while piano, saxophone, bass, drum set and a wide variety of hand percussion lay tight grooves.
Nick attributes his vocal style to recanting prayers in the synagogue: "Melodies of ancient Hebrew prayer, with their harmonic minors and Phrygian scales, are at once beautiful and haunting and definitely impacted my sense of harmony." His classical piano training had begun at age 4, but it wasn't until he dusted off an old archtop at age 12 that he found true love. Developing a deep understanding of the fretboard, he won a competition at age 15 and made guitar his primary focus. Venues included clubs like Cowboys (in Kennesaw) but a highlight came in 96 when he performed solo Jazz piano for a fundraising event at Chastain Amphitheatre.
Since then Nick's guitar playing has satiated clubs, Weddings, and conventions in 16 US States. With his LP (Ripple) completed, Nick continues to perform and define himself as an artist. Winner of the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award, U.S. Marine Corps Semper Fidelis Award, and Coca-Colas Fine Arts Award (among others) his biggest influences are Santana, Yes and Eric Johnson.
