Description

Tom Warnick writes songs about impostors, kissing stands, con men, old-fashioned head-spinning love and other fun, film-noir subjects. His band's sound is a mix of junkyard/carnival music, '50s rock and country waltzes. Review from indie-music.com, by Stephanie Joudrey:

"Growing up long after the creation of FM radio, I wasn't quite prepared for the sound of this album. Tom Warnick's latest release is the perfection of AM country radio. Being "young and hip," listening to Warnick croon over these ten tracks was a new experience for me.
The tracks are sweet and cute; they are a nice change of pace from many of the more serious and profound indie artists that often come out of the industry feeling jaded. Warnick's songs are about kisses and love. He isn't going to offend anyone with his innocent lyrics.
The rest of the sound of Warnick's music is what takes a while to get used to. Warnick has used his piano and acoustic guitar very skillfully, but it sounds like it was recorded in another decade. It sets the mood perfectly for the entire album. Warnick takes the listener back to, well in my case, a time long before I was born.
There are a few more intense songs on this album, such as the strangely disturbing "Imposter." Warnick puts his heart into these, but they seem too much of a stretch. Warnick's voice comes across to listeners much better when he is singing about lighter topics. The cheerier songs feel more natural and honest from him.
In the end, if you are feeling nostalgic about days gone by, you should try Warnick's new disc. It will surely take you back to the old days and with your high school sweetheart."

The World's Fair features Dave Dorbin, bass (Pinataland, Little Jack Melody), Ross Bonadonna, guitar/sax and Tom Curiano, drums. New album out in July 2006.
