Description
the perfect cry is a contemporary Catholic rock band based in Long Beach, California. Their music is best described as adult alternative rock with a 70s pop retro feel. Think Coldplay meets Fleetwood Mac, or Cheryl Crow meets Jack Johnson. Their lyrics are spiritual, but not preachy. The group was formed when Hugh van der Linden started leading music at the Contemporary Music Mass at St. Josephs Church in the fall of 2003. In 2006, the perfect cry has recorded its first full-length CD on Soulstatic Records, titled Touching Stars. With this record, they were nominated for best New Artist, Best Rock Album, and Best Rock Song by the United Catholic Music and Video Association. They were also the featured musical artist in the June 2006 issue of the Long Beach Magazine. They continue to play every Sunday at church, as well as, occasionally performing at local clubs, coffeehouses, and Catholic/Christian events.
