Description
California-based PRESS is a mix between Classic Hard Rock, U.S. Power Metal and Heavy Alternative Rock. With strong melodies and dark progressive undertones, the band has a modernized sound that isnt dated. The songs are a combination of slow and heavy crunchers and mid-tempo rockers with huge, classic metal riffs, and strong melodic vocals. The band features a fantastic lead singer by the name of Rob Bonstin, who completely raises the bands sound to another level. Guitarist Terry Montana is a superbly skilled player and songwriter, and with a stronger marketing effort, this band could easily breakthrough in the European metal scene.
Songs like Sunday (lovely song, with very strong melodies), FTM and Three (pure metal monsters), showcase the bands exceptional ability to diversify its sound. The closing track, Winds of War, is one of the best songs on the CD; a terrific up-tempo rocker that sounds a lot different than anything else on the disc. However, apart from that last track, which is pure Power Metal, fans of Nevermore will probably really like this band.
