Description
A detailed look into the musician and the individual, PsiVamp
PsiVamp began writing and composing electronic music in early 2000. With the release of The Darkness Within on Halloween Psi began actively pursuing a career in the music industry. By the release of The Kindred in 2002 Psi had already worked out a full stage production including dancers, intense light effects and of course the ever present haunting sounds of his music.
In 2003 PsiVamp started catching the eye of several large events. The readers of Creative Loafing voted him Best Local Electronic Musician in Atlanta. On Halloween Psi headed to New Orleans for his first show in a city that would embrace his music for years to come. He performed at the Cirque du Nuit event, which was held as a sister event to the larger Endless Night Festival. Meanwhile he was mastering his latest release, Doppelganger, a much more in-depth album from his previously released material. Doppelganger focused around his classically trained background mixing the intricate composition of the violin with a dark dance beat.
2004 was a busy year for Psi. On March 15th he released Doppelganger on his first international release. In April with the increased international interest PsiVamp headed to Toronto to headline at the VEN Vampyre Ball, a charity event held by local promoters for Amnesty International. When he returned to Atlanta he teamed up with Alpha Omega Entertainment and Delinquent Records to run the VIP room at the Endless Night Festival in New Orleans. Over 1400 attendees from all over the world were treated to two nights of PsiVamps music. Meanwhile in Atlanta, several of his songs were selected to be used in the Delta Campus Movie Festival, a national film festival for college students, as it still is today. Several of the Atlanta finalists used PsiVamps music for their soundtracks, including a film on recycling. He was also voted into the Fatbird Magazine as one of the Top 100 Atlanta musicians, who compared his tunes to those of Skinny Puppy. In November Psi began working with local Atlanta promoters to create a new event Black Atlantis. What started as a vampire themed event soon blossomed to include all sub-genres of the underground scene in Atlanta.
