Description
Charles Francois Gounod ( 1818-1893 ) French Composer wrote St. Cecilia Solemn Mass ( Messe de Sainte Cecile ) in 1855 which is one of Gounods wonderful masses with full orchestral accompaniment, chorus, soloists, and organ. SANBIS arranged this music with soprano and baritone duet, violin, viola, cello, contrabass, harp, and piano ( piano reduction made by Joseph Barnby 1838-1896 ).
SANBIS formed by Chang-Hyub Chung and Yuko Chung , a husband and a wife who sings baritone and soprano throughout this album. All orchestral parts include strings, piano, and harp are also recreated and played by Chang-Hyub and Yuko with midi and sequencer.
Chang-Hyub born in Osaka, Japan has parents from south Korea became a resident and a naturalized citizen of United States who trained and studied music in choirs at church and college. In 1994 went back to Japan to study at Kobe Reformed Theological Seminary and presently serving as a music director of Hokuloa United Church of Christ in Puako, Hawaii.
Yuko born in Kobe, Japan who trained her vocal in her high school age and continued singing at church choir and now singing solo, duet, and with choir at Hokuloa church.
It was a big challenge and project with tasks to scale down a large choral work to a duet but Gounods St. Cecilia Solemn Mass touched so deep in our hearts that we had to share this moving excitement and joyfulness to others and same reason we decided to sing in English.
