Description
In the fall of 2001 four people came together to liberate the music that had been burning inside of them for many years. Under the band name Scarlett, the CD project involves a husband and wife creative team Ray and Scarlett Malone, one of The Rock Church worship team's bass players, Ronny Laird. Robert Favors, a member of Life Church, plays drums to complete the lineup.
Their debut album "I Dare You," recorded and produced at The Rock's recording studio, is meant to encourage, inspire and motivate listeners to see things from a different perspective -- with a delivery that meets them in a very non-religious way. Scarlett notes, We want to be on a down-to-earth level with people and let them know theyre not alone in what theyre going through: that this walk can get ugly; that life can get hard. You may be tested, may be tempted to give up on things, but whats waiting on the other side of your situation is so worth what you have to go through. You come out better, stronger and well equipped for the next go round.
Scarletts music is transparent, letting the listener hear the heartbeat behind the lyrics, with a freedom of expression that shakes off the musical and stylistic taboos of Christian music. The band is not shy in form or function, with penetrating lyrics touching on the highs AND lows of this life - never afraid to tackle some of the more difficult themes, and delivering it with driving guitar riffs that shake you to your very soul.
Their debut album, I Dare You, is soberly confronting and focused, inspired by personal life experiences that intensify the groups essence. Scarlett has something to say in refreshing down-to-earth tones, but what comes through most clearly in the music is that the members have a love for a God that has shown up strong in their lives.
