Description
Theres a certain soulful quality to bluegrass music that some people feel you have to be born with. Its something that just cant be manufactured by the music industry. Certain artists come by that gift naturally. Scott Partridge is one of those artists and its readily evident on every song of his new self-titled disc.
A job in Los Angeles left Scott homesick and creatively chafing at the bit. Partridge returned to Nashville, bought a log cabin in the woods and set about making music again. The result is an album that combines the bluegrass and country influences that have shaped Partridges unique artistry. With a distinctive voice that combines classic country phrasing with that high lonesome sound that defines the best in bluegrass, Partridge breathes life into an engaging collection of tunes.
Partridge is joined on this musical outing by some of the most acclaimed musicians in bluegrass music. Rob McCoury, a member of the Del McCoury Bandnine time winners of the International Bluegrass Music Associations entertainer of the year accoladelends his talents on banjo. Ward Stout co-produces and plays fiddle. Dave Peterson adds harmony. Also joining Scott is newcomer Natalie Sanders on a great duet.
The project reflects a lifetime of musical experience from an artist whose passion for traditional music permeates every cut. Though the album contains compelling renditions of some of bluegrass and countrysbest-loved tunes, the project also showcases Partridges songwriting talents. Workin Mans Hands, written by Partridge, Russ Roberts, and Ed Lassan, is a tribute to a hard working man who loved his wife and family beyond measure. Another standout track, co-written by Partridge is Father Time, a beautiful love song that boasts an ear-catching melody and heartfelt lyric.
