Cutting edge alternative rock in the line of descent from the Velvet Underground to the New York Dolls to the Sex Pistols however at times it is as much absurdist theatre as it is killer stomp.

Description
Where to start. Brothers David and Francis Rifugiato a.k.a The Sicilian Vespers [born in Sicily but grew up in Pittsburgh,]are something wholly other, lost in the zonked-out DMZ of rock. Archival reference points include T-Rex and The Sex Pistols, but in truth the Rifugiatos have created their own sub-genre of garage rock. While Francis lays down crushing guitar chords,David goes into yenta overdrive, spewing lyrics about teenage lust, teenage lifestyle and dopey doings a la Jerry Lewis in his Nutty Professor mode.It is as much absurdist theater as it is killer stomp. The album`s showcase is "Baccala"[an Italian word that refers to dried fish.] A roller coaster free-association trip through modern life and human failings the song talks about how mindless it is to be a conformist."I Want to Talk To a Squirrel"is a lament from a fellow who has been deemed mentally deficient by the head shrinkers and now cries out- in a wild ,ripping falsetto voice- that he`d like to check in with some real experts on nuts.As a bonus, they condense the 1282 Sicilian revolt against the French into five minutes. Also included is a version of the pop/punk classic 'Floozie of the Neighborhood which was originally performed by the Rifugiatos when they were in the NYC band The Features . This CD is one of a kind.
