Description
Masudai Records proudly presents: SOCHI,the North Carolina native is reclaiming the music that inspires generations. With his latest release-Sochi:Taking It Back To The Old School.Like the masters Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, Johnny Taylor and Bobby Womack, he's created that special bond between the singer and the song that rejuvenates the old and challenges the young. With his rough velvet vocals steeped in uncomprimising rhythm and blues, this project reaches back and honors those pioneering legends of yesterday. From his name to his music, Sochi comes by his tremendous love and honor for heritage legitimately. He lives it. Born Tony C. Flowers, he was adopted as a young boy by a Japanese gentleman. His father's last wishes were for Flowers to carry on the tradition and name. To fulfill his father's last wishes, he was to marry the daughter and inherit the family's name , integrity and wealth. As he explains" The Japanese deal more with loyalty and honesty". He's since changed his name legally from Flowers to Sochi Teiy Emoto and honored all his father's wishes and memory. It's the honesty and reverance for tradition which he lives by that makes his music both genuine and contagious. Listners are touched when it's real and Sochi's music leaves a permanent print. Each track is a personal expression of this exceptional artist's admiration for his heritage. From the self penned track, "When I Hold You" to the cover of Sam Cooke's classic "You Send Me" ,Sochi pours his gravel rich tembre over each song. "I try to touch people's souls.I want them to not just hear,I want them to feel what I'm saying. Music is like a drug...I want people to get a sensation out of it."
