Description
Robert Solone, (b. 1950) a native of Chicago, began studying the violin at nine years of age and piano at twelve.
In high school, Solone played violin in the orchestra, and studied piano with noted pianist and teacher, Lydia Smutny Sterba. He also performed for a short time with the rock band, "Ides of March". While in college, he began his performance career, playing in concerts, nightclubs and hotels in Chicago, New York, Las Vegas, Europe, and Mexico.
Robert began composing in the 1980s, and has studied orchestration with Chicago composers, William Ferris, Bernard Brindel, Robert Dvorak, and in New York with Leo Edwards from the Mannes School of Music. While in New York, Solone premiered his Introduction and Fantasia for Piano and String Orchestra at Carnegie Recital Hall.
Since 2003, he completed his "Tango" for piano; "Prayer for Oboe and String Orchestra" (adapted for SATB chorus, soprano solo, and string orchestra, with a text by Marcia Klatt; Tone Poem "Aurora Borealis" for Orchestra and Shackuhachi; and, with playwright Scott Urban, a musical comedy, "Love and Sex @ Middle Age" set for production in 2006.
