Description
Full Force Music Service announces the release of the seventh solo recording from Sterling Koch (pronounced Cook) titled, "Steelin' Home." The CD project is a mix of different blues/rock styles from uptempo Chicago shuffles to Texas style rockin' blues all featuring Koch's soaring Sacred Steel style steel guitar. The CD also features guest musicians including Rick Young (Duck Soup Blues Band) on harmonica, jazz keyboard great George Grund and Larry (L.A.) Adam (The Victory In Heaven Band) on keyboards among others. From the double time Gospel of the opening song " 'A' Praise" the musicians on the CD make their presence felt. Cover songs by Rev. Gary Davis as well as Bob Dylan, Peter Green (Fleetwood Mac) and The Holmes Brothers mix in seamlessly with Koch's arrangements of traditional blues standards, "Mean Old World" and "If I Could Not Say A Word."
Sterling Koch is currently the steel guitarist and lead vocalist with The Victory In Heaven Band (together now for over 6 years). In April 2004 Sterling suffered a herniated disk in his neck causing him to temporarily lose the use of his left arm and forcing him to switch from 6 string guitar to 8 string lap steel guitar. The band with Koch on steel guitar full time now currently specializes in a unique style of jamband funk, rock and contemporary blues.
