Description
John Kessler, host of All Blues on 88.5
KPLU Tacoma/Seattle" writes:
Just wanted to let you know that we think your new cd sounds great, and have been playing "Backwater
Blues" pretty heavy since we got the cd.
Great work all the way around, writing, singing, arrangements, players.
Congratulations and best of luck to you!
Whether playing in the intimate settings of Northwest R&B clubs or delivering powerful festival performances throughout the United States, Teri Derr delivers the goods to her audiences with great energy and soul. A small woman with a big voice she has been praised in several national publications for her powerful and rocking sound
Derr is a northwest native who has graced the stage of many great performers over the past 20 years. All of who have crossed her path in her musical journey from jazz to country to gospel and now to blues. With scores of impressive club dates and several Northwest festivals under her belt, including Seattles famous Bumbershoot festival and Juneaus Folk Festival, Teri has gained a loyal following which comes to her shows again and again, placing her high on the list of independent woman musicians performing in the Northwest today.
In her newest recording she has once again gathered some impressive talent around herself to highlight her first full-length album of original songs. Chris Leighton on Drums, John Goforth and Scott Harris on sax, Nick Moore and Beth Wulff on keyboards, Tom Erak, and Hank Yanda on bass. Ted Bellusci and John Morton on guitar. The songwriting on this album is both thoughtful and smart, with a soulful and gutsy sound reminiscent of a young Bonnie Raitt. The exceptional musicianship on this album and the eclectic array of material drawn from years steeped in jazz, gospel, and soul gives the album a depth of sound that is rare among emerging acts of today.
