tip toe glow
thesoulraydio
Drifting from left-field among the current atlanta scene is this eerily catchy album full of alluring and unrefined laments that are akin to the setting colors of dying leaves. This record will become an intimate and timeless friend to you.

Description
For David McClung, sound is inherently wild and songcraft is the attempt to harness that which is abstract into a shape, a form that is accessible yet uncompromising to that original nature. Under a somewhat awkward moniker (thesoulraydio), 'Tip Toe Glow' sounds like the remains of a distant sunny-record which was violently flung into pieces leaving behind shards that don't really need to be put back together. These songs, or fleeting poems, fuzzy portraits, whichever you'd prefer, are jaggedly sequenced and yet beautifully balanced and in place. The tracks found here are nervous but comforting, they are celebratory yet defeated, elusive but inviting. The album's addiction is the impression it gives to the listener. 'Tip Toe Glow' is a collage of raw-romantic poetry carved on distorted oak. -J.V. Hardy
what other critics are saying about this music:
'Tip Toe Glow is 21 tracks of hushed and haunted low-fi enchantment. With spare instrumentation and intimate delivery, it doesn't seem like much but it sure does weave its way under your skin.'--Jeff Clark of Stomp and Stammer
'the whole cd plays like a deep breath i didn't know i needed to take.'--Chad Cosby
'Once in a while, if you've been reviewing CDS for long enough, you come across a CD that just looks so fucking weird you have to crank it to ten the first time in the stereo just to get the full effect...'for a supposedly lo-fi recording, the sound quality is great. Think later Guided by Voices..'however McClung recorded this thing, one hopes that he can catch lightning a second time.'--John Dyson of Performer Magazine
