Description
Edward Thurstons' Soundtrack of Life is a R&B/Jazz/Dance Groove CD that is full of great songs by this up and coming composer.
Emulating the retro sound of the 70's updated for the 21st Century, every song has overtones of love, strength and courage. This CD is for people who really like feel good music.
The CD starts off with the anthem "New Day". With it's mellow funk groove and neo-gospel like arrangement, the tune is a winner. The CD also features the funk/acid jazz dance tune "Age of Aquarius" , the mellow groove of "Love Comes Shining Through" and the pop song about a low income couples' love for each other, "Wanna Be With You".
The hidden gem on the CD is "The Lost Children" which Thurston sings about children being abducted from their families. You would expect your normal arrangement for a song of this nature but Thurston employs a hip-hop beat, story-telling lyrics and a Native American percussive break to bring the point on home. It's a song you can dance to and get moved to do something about abducted children.
The interludes "Chakra Melody", "Closer To Home" and the instrumental, "Tabla Song" which features Thurston playing an African Xylophone, moves the CD along within it's concept.
Edward Thurstons Soundtrack of Life is full of memorable retro grooves and messages.
