Description
For the last decade Tommy Merry has been an icon in the world of instrumental guitar, tearing up the fretboard with music featured on local radio commercials (KOME, KSJO), National TV shows (FOX CH2 The Crow, Powder Park and the U.S.A. Olympics) and movie soundtracks (The Last Innocent Summer).
He has shared the stage with with Metallica, Journey, Joe Satriani, Ratt, Montrose, Y&T, Testament, Lita Ford, Armored Saint, Iron Butterfly, Faith No More, Tony MacAlpine and Michael Schenker.
"Tommy Merry 3" marks the 3rd album and the tenth year the bands has been together brining heavy yet melodic style to the world.
About the band: Tommy's Brother-in-law and co-producer is Brian Shearn. Brian is a veteran of the thrash metal days, though his last project before becoming Tommy's full time drummer was in a bay area blues project. Tommy describes him as the ideal drummer, because not only does he bring the progressive element to the song's percussive structures, but also holds down the straight ahead driving beats that comprise the body of the songs.
James Beard plays all the rythym guitars and second harmonies of the doubles leads. James brings a love of 80's metal bands and guitar virtuosos to the mix while also being a big fan of modern metal. James is like family and was one of Tommy's most advanced guitar students from many years back. He got so good on guitar that eventually Tommy asked James to join his band.
