Description
The bayous of Louisiana have formed some of the hottest groups in the past five years of Hip-Hop. While many of the artists have come out of New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and even Lafayette, never has the small city of New Iberia (the B Town) been known as a melting pot for artists, until now.
The vast majority of artists that make up UGE are from this small farming town of about 40,000. It may surprise you how much musical development evolves from such surroundings. Maybe it's the Sugar Cane crops, and the annual festival. Maybe it's the Tabasco. Maybe it was going through the biggest high school in the state (New Iberia Senior High). Whatever the case, it is a known fact that these talented individuals have received the world, and the world has witnessed them. A small exodus to New Orleans in 1998, formed a musical relationship with other artists who may not have lived the same, but felt the same emotionally and musically.
In a valiant attempt to bring real Hip-Hop back to a genre that has been smothered with images that permeate from a watered-down, money-crazed media, Urban Groovz Entertainment produced Urban Groovz Compilation, Volume 1. This CD brought another angle of Hip-Hop music to light, where MC's between the bottom and the top, expressed their highs, lows, loves, and concerns. This CD is a unique display of lyrical street art without being simplistic. Their rhymes are complex yet understandable. Hip-Hop heads coast to coast will love the blending of meaningful words, with articulate musical arrangements.
