Description
Miriam Allen's musical style is a concoction of original folk, swing, jazz, and world music marked by her passionate, sultry vocals and intelligent lyrics. In addition to traveling and performing throughout the South East, USA, she also spent two years travelling throughout Latin America holding live performances in Cuba, Argentina, and Colombia. While sharing her own down-home South Carolinian-Americana style with the Latin public, she performed with professional Latin musicians and absorbed sounds from abroad. THE MOUNTAINS OF MENDOZA is somewhat of a travel log as most songs came out of an emotion or experience from this time period. Miriam's live performances have taken somewhat of a turn as shows now revolve more around dramatically sung world music rather than southern folk. However, even as songs are played on classical guitar or requinto in alternate time signatures and lyrics sung in Spanish, there is still just a hint of the "gospelly" voice of a southern girl with deep Carolina roots.
