Description
"Thrones of Gold" is a powerful collection of original songs that are sometimes funny, often tragic, but ultimately refreshing. Darrin James has a narrative songwriting style that draws us into his world through the eclectic range of styles from beatnik blues to rustic mountain jams, and lots of good old fashioned rock n' roll.
Darrin James produced "Thrones of Gold" himself, recording much of the album in his own loft studio. While his gravelly voice and gritty guitar set the distinctive tone for "Thrones of Gold," the album features many rising stars of the New York music scene including Jordan Shapiro (Project/Object, Astrograss), Jeremy Bronson, Ari Folman-Cohen (Jennifer Hartswich Band), Tim Kiah (Citigrass) Dan Jeselsohn (Dub is a Weapon, The Toasters), Dennis Lichtman (Astrograss), and Colin Stetson (Tom Waits).
By incorporating instruments such as the Hammond Organ, upright bass, Wurlitzer, fiddle, mandolin, and even ukulele, the Darrin James Band has achieved an old school rawness that is rare in its honesty and intensity.
