Description
Beth Custer is a recording artist, performer, bandleader, clarinet and composition professor, and record label owner. She's a composer for the concert stage, film, dance, theatre, installations and television. Bernal Heights Suite is her third commission with the Left Coast Chamber Ensemble. They also performed and recorded her Vinculum Symphony (BC 3).
Beth is a founding member of the purveyors of silent film soundtracks The Club Foot Orchestra; 4th world ambient ensemble Trance Mission; a quintet of esteemed clarinetists Clarinet Thing; the trip-hop duo Eighty Mile Beach; and the Latin-jazz-rock influenced Doa Luz 30 Besos. She now leads The Beth Custer Ensemble.
Beth has composed for many of the Joe Goode Performance Group's dance/theatre productions including 'Hometown,' 'Folk,' and 'The Maverick Strain.' She's made soundtracks for the films of Esther Paik, Cathy Crane, Melinda Stone and the theatre productions of Campo Santo Theatre, California Shakespeare, and The Magic Theatre. She's received commissions from Kronos Quartet, Zeitgeist, and Overtone Industries and has worked on several pieces with inventor and Macarthur Fellow Trimpin.
