Description
Matt Shire-Jones founded Field Effect back in 1991 with the ambition of writing and arranging electronic music on an 8-bit sampler. Studying how individual harmonics reacted with each other when layered, Matts aim was to understand fundamental synthesis and sound manipulation techniques.
Matt was keen to work with other musicians. One particular musician - Tony Gordon - joined Field Effect in 2003. This brought to the project a vast background as a performing artist introducing the saxophone, bass clarinet and percussion. Matt focused on electronic synthesis and sampling, Tony provided a traditional and natural feel to accompany it.
By 2006, Field Effect has evolved into something new and fresh. Free from the standard commercial pressures, Field Effect has its own purpose built studio and has invited many local artists to add to the ongoing musical projects.
