Description
The Free Art Project originated after Italian composer and musician Francesco Salomoni took part to a residency at Atlantic Center for the Arts in New Smyrna Beach,FL during Summer of 2006. There he worked on spontaneous creativity with Master Artist Sam Rivers and with a team of outstanding musicians. The Free Art Project blends New Music and Free Jazz, Spontaneous Compositions and Harmonic Visions.
New Music with a Free Jazz approach is the motto of Fishing Cat Sounds record label and for sure the new cd by The Free Art Project Focus represents a good example.
In this work composer Francesco Salomoni presents each musical composition as a unique portrait of emotions and feelings, utilizing spontaneous composition techniques to express his harmonic visions.
Coming from both classical and jazz backgrounds and willing to research the possibilities of new combinations Francesco Salomoni found a way to expose his musical ideas with The Free Art Project.
Definitely Focus is not an album for every ear, or maybe it is, but if you are a pop boy-band fan chances are that youll hate it. The word to the listener.
The first feedback we had from a listener was thanks, but I dont understand it, the fallowing was it sounds like books falling in a silent library, but the one we feel closest is a cross between Cecil Taylor, Ornette Coleman, Sam Rivers and Luciano Berio.
Dont be surprised if it may sound to you like gees fighting with a gang of street cats, but surprise yourself listening to it.
You may like it or not, but for sure youll be touched and soon find yourself lost in a surreal atmosphere and focusing.
This is the main intent of Focus, to take the listener away from everyday life and problems and focus on what is really worth.
What is it?
You will know it after listening to The Free Art Project album Focus.
