Description
The songs from Kaydi Johnson's debut album, Tied, are a gutsy blend of folk, rock and pop, making it as diverse as it is unclassifiable.
Kaydi's music and lyrics have been described as "haunting and joyous," as well as "provocative and poetic." In "Chiaroscuro," the vocal, acoustic guitar, violin and acoustic bass blend to create a melodious atmosphere of sadness and despair as the song is about the loss of a lover. "Dirty Room," and "I Got Your Eye," uses drums, bass, electric and acoustic guitars, to create a more upbeat folk-rock-funk.
The track, "Tied," -everyone's favorite- appears to be the simple story of two people who are drawn to one another but resist getting involved because they're committed to other relationships, beneath its simplicity lies a more complex metaphor for unsatisfied longing and desire. It's every ones story at one time or another. Is there anyone who gets through life without denying themselves something because it feels like the "right thing to do," but then realizes there is a disadvantage in that too?
The point is, in the scope of human emotions there's no right and wrong, and Kaydi captures that spirit in her songs. Listen and enjoy
