The Book & the Flower
Mundi
This instrumental band performs music that is a most unusual merging of genres. It's a little Classical, a little folk and a little rock, among other things. The Penguin Cafe Orchestra meets Philip Glass at the Rennaissance Fest, says a fan.

Description
With Spanish guitar, violin, cello, bass, and an arsenal of percussion (both traditional and found), Mundi masterfully creates a sound that is rich, celebratory, dynamic, and deeply emotive. The quintet infuses their old world compositions with the energy and vitality of their diverse influences - Paganini to pop, rock to Rachmaninoff, 'Flea' to folk. The truth is, this ensemble's vision is old and new, classical and contemporary.
THE BOOK & THE FLOWER
Having just released their sophomore album, "The Book & the Flower" the members of Mundi are speaking of it with pride and excitement. Mundi promises music of celebration and lament within the CD. Given their recent tour of Spain, two Spanish pieces are on the track list, and also "The Alphonse Suite" - a series of three cantigas from the court of Spanish King Alphonse X.
