Description
Toy Shop is a creative and entertaining band whose music combines elements if rock, jam, and lyrical pop. The bands recordings and live shows are energetic and infectious, showcasing the quartets musical talent, driving grooves, and vocal harmony. "Get Up Now", produced by legendary producer Johnny Sandlin, is the premier release on Rockin' Camel Reocrds.
The Huntsville, Alabama based band was formed by British-born brothers, Anthony and Andrew Sharpe, whose guitar and keyboard playing provide the template for Toy Shops unique sound. The powerful rhythm section of Jim Kolachek on drums and Matt Ross on bass complete the lineup with a feel that couples intense rhythms with mindful subtlety.
The emphasis of the bands set list lies within their own fresh and innovative original songs, and also includes covers spanning four decades from the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Tom Waits, Radiohead, Ben Folds Five, Phish, Neil Young, Peter Gabriel, and many others.
Toy Shop has performed for area music festivals, such as Huntsvilles Big Spring Jam and Montgomerys Jubilee. The band has played countless venues across the region, as well as the Southeastern Universities of Auburn, Alabama, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Georgia Tech, Birmingham-Southern, UNA, and Ole Miss. Currently they can be heard at the Crossroads in Huntsville every Tuesday night, Philbys every Thursday night, as well as various other scheduled shows in the area.
