Description
Tracy Stark is an award-winning musical director, arranger, pianist, vocalist and songwriter.
She works with a plethora of artists, from Broadway divas to rock and jazz musicians, including her years as conductor/keyboardist for legendary pop singer, Lesley Gore, Academy Award nominated actress Karen Black, and Randy Jones, from the Village People.
She began playing piano at age 3, and has had at least 20 years of classical training throughout her life, (including a degree from Oberlin Conservatory) but mostly wrote songs and played rock and blues, when she should have been practicing for concerto competitions.
Tracy has appeared in numerous television specials as conductor/keyboardist/vocalist, including The Today Show, The American Soundtrack Series, PBSs Lets Do It Again, the international special, Solidarity of the Americas, and Branson Jubilee, as pianist, vocalist and conductor
Some accolaides as a songwriter:
Her song Lifes Been Kind won an honor award in the Great American Song Contest, with the comment, ...flashes of brilliance from the judges.
Right Where I Belong won 3rd place in the Southern Songwriters Competition,
The Only One won a very honorable mention in the Southern Songwriters Competition (notice, VERY honorable).
Morning Light spent 6 weeks at #1 in 5 separate categories on Broadjam.com.
A Million Hearts, the song Tracy wrote in the wake of 9/11, not only won an honor award in the UNISONG contest, but it was also featured on the New York Times website for a month.
Camera won an honor award in the Great American Song Contest.
Her songs appear on at least 20 compilations of recording artists, and a couple of independent films. Tracy's songs continue to be in the repertoire of many vocalists.
Her first CD, Canvas of Dreams, which was produced by Ferron, has received critical acclaim, and has been called, a masterpiece in museum quality presentation.
Her most recent CD, Feast for the Heart, which was produced by Richard Barone features a duet with the illustrious Phoebe Snow.
Always exploring ways to redefine the art of covering other peoples music, Tracy has a repertoire of at least 2000 songs, and is often referred to as a human jukebox.
