Description
From the age of 6, when he first heard Les Paul, Jesse knew what he wanted to do; play the guitar! Luckily his mom knew about a half dozen chords and from that beginning, he practiced every free moment. In his teens he discovered jazz and began studying with a teacher at the University of Oregon. At 19, he decided to "go for it" - loaded everything he owned into his prized Studebaker Hawk and "hit the road."
Since then- He has worked almost every venue from Las Vegas to Reno to Chicago. "Those can be tough gigs." says Jesse. "You have to read all the charts for the different shows. I've met and worked with people like Glen Campbell, Fats Domino, Bobby Darin, The Righteous Brothers, Roger Miller, Little Richard and even the great Chuck Berry."
"The unusual gigs were things like playing background music for an elephant act, or playing banjo behind a not so funny, comedy team. Still, all in all - I wouldn't trade the experience for anything." "Most of the time its great fun with great musicians. And nowadays, its even more fun because I dont have to do any survival gigs. I only play where I want to play. Thats priceless!"
