Description
The core of Via Sahara, a Youngstown, Ohio based band has been making music for over seven years.
They finalized their lineup in November of 1999 after a jam night at a local bar.
That night had formed an immediate chemistry among the bands founding members.
Via Sahara played their first show only three months later in front of an audience of over 1,000 people.
This trial by fire has helped them build a steady following ever since.
Via Sahara has gone on to play hundreds of shows over their time together due to amazing crowd responses and a quickly developed following.
The band has remained extremely busy, playing venues in and around Cleveland, Akron, Canton, Columbus, Pittsburgh and Youngstown.
They've performed at art & music festivals, events for charity, as well as shows with several regional and national acts including RCA recording artists SR-71, and Atlantic Records' Sin-o-matic.
Via Sahara also won several competitions in this time, including a northeastern Ohio / western Pennsylvania "battle of the bands" in which they defeated 46 other top bands from that region.
Via Sahara is a four piece band that would say nothing else about their musical style than "It's just Rock n' Roll with a little bit of everything." From the heavy melodies of "lonely shelf" to the rock and reggae style of "so real", Via Sahara fans get a taste of just that...everything, and their response is shown in their devotion to the band.
Each member of Via Sahara brings a diverse contribution that is crucial to the band's sound.Tim McNickle, whose guitar influences span a wide variety of musical genres, is amazing to watch.
Matt Colla's powerful and creative drum style has been inspired by everything from hard rock to hip-hop.
Joey Kent brings infectious bass lines that are tinged with influences ranging from Jazz to Funk.
While Jason Wurst's vocal control and distinctive melodic voice round out this crew of musicians that are nothing short of phenomenal.
