Description
Zru Vogue returns with a brand new concept album The Exile, that explores surrealist themes of insect love, undersea origins, and escape from mundane normalcy into a world of strange and wonderful creatures.
But is it a metaphor? And if so, for what? The need for the artist to escape the humdrum daily chores of life? The desire to leave behind the sane world of normals and re-invent a life based on fantasy and illusion? Or do these songs tell of something darker, and deeper a mysterious other life that co-exists with this one, an alternate universe where mother fish and insect queens dominate the landscape?
Whatever the case, the music speaks for itself: a throbbing rhythm-fest steeped in funk and electro grooves, sprawling synthesizer lines, Zruphonic bass lines, and layers of percussion like a drumming circle on psychedelics.
This is Zru Vogue doing what they do best: art-funk for thinking humans and other creatures.
"This is how it feels
To reveal the truth
This is what it means
To require the proof
This is who you are
When you cease to be you
This is what its like
When you do the Zru"
