Description
Jason's debut electro-pop album, 'Barriers', which took six years to record in Toronto, Canada, has been released only four months ago and is rapidly gaining national attention:
Track 4 'Spin', the infectious pop song on the album, appears on the Montel William MS Foundation 2006 Compilation CD.
Track 3 'First Man on Mars', a futuristic pop-techno journey about sending future space missions to Mars, has been chosen by the 4Frontiers Corporation as their official theme song. The song also provides the musical accompaniment to the 4Frontiers 90-second animated Mars flyby video. (www.4frontiers.com)
Track 9 'Rock Star' is currently rated in the top 10 songs by independent artists at the top online radio station, www.rradiomusic.com.
Collectively, 'Barriers' is a ten song album full of colorful, sonic layers, cinematic themes and lyrics that suggest both messages of despair and hope. Each song's lyrics tie into the overall theme of overcoming either a physical, mental, or communication barrier.
"At his best (e.g. 'The Magician's Life'), Jason Farnham plays the kind of gorgeous pop that explodes onto radio fully formed. 'Morning Coffee', like all the songs, bubbles over an unplugged foundation, with enough electronic flourishes to keep the mix hopping, even when the lyrics drift back to the New Age realm, as on 'First Man on Mars'."
-Cleveland Scene Magazine (August 9, 2006)
"'First Man on Mars'...That's what you'd expect from a song about a celestial planet! Very expert musicality; I'd like to hear more from the artist."
