Description
Singer, songwriter and actress, Gina Samardge, is an avid performer in
many venues. Since childhood, Gina has taken part in school productions,
local theater and children's choruses. Upon receiving her Bachelor's Degree
in Music from The University of Dayton, Gina continued performing in
musical theater in the Cleveland, Ohio area before a two year jaunt traveling
the world. After this hiatus, she was once again beckoned to song and
stage; this time as an educator. Gina began teaching theater, voice, acting
and drumming in Central Ohio - with major roles on the stage for herself,
as well.
In 2002, Gina relocated to New York City, pursuing theater. She worked
With VOICETheater; an acting company focused on social action, while also
dabbling in film and musicals. Gina studies and performs with Kendall
Cornell's Soon-to-be-World-Famous Women Clowns, working with
Cirque du Soleil and Six Figures Theatre Company. With the heart of an
educator, Gina began teaching through the outreach programs at The Brooklyn
Conservatory of Music and Turtle Bay Music School, as well as directing
The Brooklyn Conservatory Childrens Chorus.
Realizing the strong tie between music and its community building
value, Gina pioneered a sing-a-long for young children at Crossroads Cafe in
Brooklyn. Within weeks of its inception, Gina's sing-a-long popularity
was evident. The participation was growing and a second and third show had
to be added quickly. Gina now performs her sing-a-longs at three different venues in Brooklyn.
Gina's gift as a singer/songwriter is shown through her original tunes
that carry a folk/country feel. She also adds her talents to The Main
Squeeze Orchestra; a fourteen piece, all-women accordion orchestra, which
performs at various New York City venues. Gina's energy is contagious. Her love of music and performing, her ability to organize and lead large groups in story and song, and her encouragement of the growth of all artistic pursuits is inspiring to all who meet her.
