Description
Jim Nollman is universally regarded as a pioneer of Earth Art and New Music. He is best known for performing live music to communicate with dolphins and whales on every ocean. Check out interspecies.com for much more info. He has written several well-received books about this work including The Beluga Cafe, and has been a featured interviewee in magazines including The Sun and Guitar Player. Nollman's work with whales and music has been filmed by the likes of National Geographic, 60 Minutes, and PrimeTime.
Jim Nollman is a music producer living in the Pacific Northwest, with several CDs to his credit, including a few by others listed on CDBaby. Although he still performs in a traditional concert setting once or twice a year, these days Nollman prefers to produce underwater concerts, where the audience floats in a heated pool, playing music that includes oceanic animal calls, and is transmitted through underwater speakers.
What the Dolphin Said CD, is Nollman's only recorded output of original songs. Listen to I Live I Die, or Faultline to hear tunes that sound as good as anything else produced in the past several years.
Jim Nollman's musical output also includes two CDs of realtime interspecies communication. Orcas Greatest Hits (Interspecies) includes live music with wild orcas. Playing Music with Animals (Folkways/Smithsonian) includes music with orcas, wolves, and turkeys. The more recent Belly of the Whale CD (Important Records...soon on CDBaby) includes 16 well known digital composers from 10 countries creating music almost exclusively from Nollman's sample library of underwater animal calls. The Dolphin Realtime CD, to be released in spring 2007, includes digital compositions created primarily from rain forest birds and underwater critters.
