Description
Analog Tara performed jazz piano for several years in NYC and has performed electronic music and led recording workshops at venues including the CMJ Music Festival (NYC) and Ladyfest (Chicago & TX). Her music has been released on several compilations, including Source Records/Germany and the Le Tigre Remix album, and she has released 3 full-length albums on her own label, Safety Valve. Tara is also publisher of Pinknoises.com, a web magazine on women DJs and sound artists, which launched in 2000 and was nominated as Best Music Web Site at the 2003 Webby Awards.
"At the Switch Hotel" (2003, 63 min.) showcases the influence of classic early-90s house and Detroit techno on Analog Tara's sound. The title track was a semi-finalist in the International Songwriting Competition Dance/Electronica category in 2003. Live performances of this album prompted some critics to refer to Analog Tara as "the female Jeff Mills."
