Description
Daniel Nathans first instrument was actually a violin. He began playing when he was about four years old. He got sick of the violin after a year, and let the musical side of his brain rest until fifth grade. Around that time, his mother mentioned that she was going to sell her flute, but before she could, Daniel decided to give it a try. One thing led to another, and he ended up graduating from a music high school in Houston (HSPVA), with a focus on classical flute. Daniel didnt pick up a guitar until 97, his second year in college. He instantly fell in love with the instrument. Daniel entered the live music scene by playing open jams at local bars. He found playing with the old blues masters of Milwaukee to be an incredibly influential and humbling experience.
Years later, Daniel brought three friends, Bruce Haxton, Guy Lindekugel, and Chris Vincent into the mix. Bruce had played bass and classical guitar with several different bands, and shared stages with popular national acts like Duran Duran. Guy was a self-taught harmonica player and singer. Chris graduated from UWMadison, having majored in percussion. Open-mic performances helped the foursome cut their teeth, and soon the Daniel Nathan Band was born. The four members combine to paint a bluesy, jazzy, psychedelic mosaic, with a brush of distortion.
