Description
I feel as though I’m in a dark, stylish lounge. It’s 3:00 in the morning and I’m sitting aloofly at a small table nursing my drink, not quite sure if the tense, introspective trance I’m in is the fault of the alcohol or of the music. Maybe, I’m in a movie. I have certainly lost track of time. During track 5, a svelte young lady in a black dress approaches my table—ah yes, it’s definitely a movie—she lights a cigarette and shoots a cold glance at me before turning away to eye the scattered couples around the locale. At song number 6 things become more tense—maybe we start talking? Something bad happens? A climax?—and by the next song we’ve left the bar to cruise down the city’s empty boulevards. At this point the tension has resolved and I’m basking in the more upbeat yet seductive vibe of the last song. Truly, this CD is THE soundtrack for a fantastic neo-noir film, one that I want to experience again. Excellent. (Z)
