Description
The Velvet Mafia is the brain-trust of Dean Johnson, the legendary towering bald drag queen who starred in the midnight cult classic "Mondo New York." Johnson has dominated NYC's underground music scene since the 80s, first with his groundbreaking party "Rock n Roll Fag Bar" and later with the creation of the queer music showcase HomoCorps, staged monthly at the cradle of punk, CBGB on the bowery. His hilarious lyric style has been compared to Stephen Sondheim's, but The Velvet Mafia's world is populated by horny space aliens, desperate celebrities, sleazy closet cases and shameless whores.
