PURPLE HEART
A new album from KATIAH! From dreamy pop to big beat rockers, and then a taste of really good country. A mix of different styles and impressions we hope you will enjoy.
“Purple Heart” has a great story line with a big, big beat. The kid wails with Kenny Cook on guitar and Alfreda Gerald handling the vocal back-ups.
“Doesn’t Matter What I Say” nothing changes anyway. Isn’t that the way of it? Got a bad love going on? This song will take you there to reminisce.
Not in the mood to reminisce – then have some “Sunshine On A Rainey Day”. Pretty song, well done, but then, everything Katiah does is WELL DONE. Some more of great Kenny Cook guitar work on this one.
“Atlanta Misses You Tonight” has a lot of heart in the melody, lyric, and arrangement. She’s wishing he was back in Atlanta but doesn’t want to say so – so she pretends that it’s Atlanta that’s missing him. Does things to get him off her mind, like, going to a movie, like, “Gone With The Wind”. What other movie would you see in Atlanta? Chesley Stephens playing the guitars on this one.
“I’ll Still Be On Your Mind” Here is a new-blues song. The first line is a killer: “Don’t smile, don’t smile so much. It’s not becoming to your face”. Well put like that he may never smile again. Ok by us.
“Nobody But A Fool” A remake of a country hit first recorded by Billy Walker on Columbia in the 60’s. Good then, still good today, especially with Katiah doing the remake.
“Same Old Story” Sure to become a country hit. Boy this thing moves. The story line is country down to the long neck beer. You’re going to like it! Kenny Cook on guitars..Oh Yeah! Alfreda Gerald on vocal back-ups.
"Hush Little Baby" Ahh Katiah your gonna send some people on a journey with this rendition. Smooth so very smooth!
“I Remember When Time” Was first recorded by KATIAH in Spanish. Check that out on the KATIAH album on CD Baby. We thought there should be an English version on the market. It is such a very good song with some great guitar work by Chesley Stephens.
“That Was Tomorrow, This Is Yesterday” Weird song! Weird recording! I like weird! After hearing this you may even change to liking weird. Chesley on guitar and Alfrda on vocal back-ups.
“GET USE TO IT” Notice all caps. That’s because this is a sure fire country hit! Blows away everyone that’s heard the pre-release on it. They want us to play it over and over and over………Oh yeah Chesley Stephens can thump some pretty good country guitar when he wants to.
“I’ll Worry About It Tomorrow” A ballad, very well done.
Remember the line from Scarlet at the end of the movie? Alfreda on vocal back-ups. The computer on guitar.
“Heavenly Conversation” Woody Jenkins, former bass player with Jimmy Buffet, is playing guitar, his main instrument by the way, while Katiah is in her singing to the moon mood. Katiah and I are doing the vocal back-ups here along with Alfreda.
“Dirty Rotten Past” What a great country rock-a-billy song. I think I said Chesley could play some pretty good country guitar. Convinced? Again Alfreda on vocal back-ups. This one is better than good!
Well with me and my G5 Mac computer, as usual, doing all the instruments except guitar, that’s a summary of Katiah’s new album. Let us know what you think.
See ya next time!
