Description
Heart Attacks, Back to Back… is the follow up to New York City band Kite Operations’ 2005 debut album Dandelion Day.
Recorded by the band at home over several months in 2005 and 2006, Heart Attacks… is a thrashing, beautifully destructive collection of love songs from the end of the world.
Singer Joseph Kim’s open throated belting is contrasted by co-frontman David Yang’s hushed delivery. As guitarists, Kim and Yang are well-versed in the vocabulary of noise. As they attack from parallel sides of the stereo, abrasive and delicate passages are traded off with ease.
Drummer Sung Shin’s eccentric grooves have become both more subtle and bombastic as his interest in late-era Coltrane grows. And bassist Jie Whoon Kang’s melodic instincts find him deftly navigating lines that often run independently through the dense mesh.
