Description
Sooo – here’s the deal. Sei (the other half of the Showtyme Jazz Duo) and I spend most of the year on the road, but try to stay close to the Atlanta area after Thanksgiving and we try not to travel much during December because that’s when I buckle down and begin to do something with all of the partial songs, song ideas and snippets I have been gathering and saving during the year. I try to have at least one new CD for the beginning of each New Year. I was running on empty creatively speaking all of December 2006 and I told Sei that there would be no new CD for January 2007. She tried to console me.
My muse is a bitch and showed me her back all of December. But, YES LORD, she arrived full force on Christmas Day and I began to write music like a man possessed.
The upshot is, that I staggered out of my music room on New Year’s Day, with, not one, but – count ‘em – three new CD’s. Two are contemporary piano CD’s – Ephemera and Sailing in the Light which are available at our website, www.smoothjazzduo.com. The other is this rocking little gem, Ace in the Pocket. We know you love “slow and sexy” jazz music, but every now and again you just really want something that’s gonna get the blood flowing a little faster. This is the one. Up-tempo but not frenetic, soulful but not boring, all original but sounds like it could fit right in with that smooth jazz top 40 rotation that Clear Channel Radio beats us over the head with.
