Description
Poorboy Shanty is Jalan Crossland's second recording. A raw and energetic satchel of tunes with folk and bluegrass roots, its compass of Americana stylings includes eight original songs, two original instrumentals, and four traditional American and Irish numbers.
Like all his albums, Poor Boy Shanty is anchored by Jalan's colorful, evocative and lyrical compositions. With plenty of sparkling fingerstyle guitar, his award-winning flat picking and characteristic six string banjo playing also color Jalan's homespun-21st-century point of view.
Ben Winship (National Champion, mandolin) and Tucker Smith (Wyoming State Champion, banjo) contribute their fine musicianship and creative interaction to the recording. Other friends and band mates further infuse Poor Boy Shanty with hill-hippy glee.
