Palimpsest
Alexander Bonus
A book composed from a more ancient book. Palimpsest also describes this dark ambient thematic album, which layers Tuvan and Gregorian chant with electronica timbres and rhythms.

Description
Alexander Bonus' sixth album (his fourth in 2006), continues his exploration into dark ambient sound-worlds. In Palimpsest, Bonus compares, contrasts, and mixes the chant cultures of both Europe and Tuva, digitally superimposing—like a sonic jigsaw—their independent forms to find the universalities within these ancient genres. The album is divided into three, fluid tracks, which simulates the reading of a multi-layered, ancient book. It is a musical text written upon an older text: A Palimpsest. Palimpsest is Bonus' most spontaneous, thematic album to date—produced over two days—and is intended as an homage to musical traditions both Eastern and Western, both past and present.
