Description
With the release of 'Out From Behind The Glass,' Jamie Choquette, guitarist and one of the songwriters of the band; Plum Crazy (www.myspace.com/plumcrazyrocks), finds a new outlet to explore his acoustic pop. In the style of Toad the Wet Sprocket, Duncan Sheik, Matt Nathanson and Barenaked Ladies, to name a few, he explores the art of crafting vocal hooks that dance around simple guitar lines. From the jangly and vocally layered 'Kamikaze Sunday' to the dense, string laden atmosphere created in 'Then We Shine,' Choquette carves new ground for himself on many musical levels.
Choquette began his musical career in the early nineties with a string of rock bands that boasted his developing songwriting skills. While in college he moved to a pop enviroment with the band Dead White Males which produced the single album, Sketchy (still available at http://cdbaby.com/cd/dwm). Later in the nineties, JC moved onto a folk-rock trio called Dr. Isosceles. The band survived for 3 years, and during that time, released many EPs as well as the full length album '8 Cents is Your Birthday' (also still available at http://cdbaby.com/cd/doctori). With the demise of Dr. Isosceles, Choquette set out to return to a power-pop setting and helped found Plum Crazy in 2001. Still together and occassionally performing, Plum Crazy released 'Remember That Time...' in 2004 (available at http://cdbaby.com/cd/plumcrazy and also on iTunes and other online MP3 music stores). Plum Crazy has opened for many well-known artists including Eve6. Plum Crazy continues to record their second full-length release (yet untitled). The future holds many new projects for JC, including an album with longtime collborator, Mansour Bethoney who completed his own solo album in 2006 (http://www.myspace.com/sourman).
Additionally, JC is a music instructor. He serves on the faculty of 3 schools in Massachusetts and Vermont, teaches guitar and songwriting privately and co-owns Skyboro Sound Recording Studio (http://www.myspace.com/skyborosound) where 'Out From Behind The Glass' was recorded.
