Description
From high in the Rocky Mountains comes Ellen Stapenhorst’s most recent CD, COME BACK HOME. Co-produced with Smokin’ Joe Kelly (Ike and Tina Turner’s guitar player for many years), COME BACK HOME ranges in style from heart-aching ballads to uplifting folkgrass to catchy singable tunes, with a bit of surf-flamenco guitar wafting through. Featuring some of the Aspen area’s finest musicians, including Bobby Mason, Smokin’ Joe Kelly, John Sommers, Randy Utterback, JD Martin, Jan Garrett, John Michel, Bryan Savage, Sandy Munro and Steve Johnson, this 2004 release is a thoughtful, satisfying, good feeling romp and roll collection of fine songs and music.
Ellen has been writing songs and performing for over four decades. From the LA coffee houses of the Sixties, to being on the road with the eclectic, original, Colorado country-rock band Tanglefoot in the Seventies, to years of work as a solo and with various wonderful musicians since then, she is a seasoned performer whose rich voice, strong guitar playing, honesty and humor leave people feeling good about themselves. Her songs come mainly from her attempts to be a decent human being in crazy times.
Ellen lives in the town of Paonia, in western Colorado, and performs around the country and internationally.
