I dream. I hope. I pray. I believe.
I cannot explain to you how important it is to me to play music for people I do not know (and those I do know). Growing up, my best friend was my guitar and I learned my craft by dreaming, exploring and trying to find ways to say what was in my heart. I recorded my first album when I was twenty one, never having been inside a recording studio before, and it turned out amazing. "Remember Me" is complied of twelve original songs, a full band, tight harmonies and ended up being a huge production. It was a learning experience that far surpassed my expectations and I am still so proud of this album, even as I have seen the growth in my most recent recordings and writings. I hired the top players in the midwest and you can hear it in every note on this album. I don't know how I was able to pull this off quite as I did, but dern it all - I think I did good!! hee hee . . .
I moved to Nashville in 2000 and played a ton of 'writers nights', explored the city and tested the waters every chance I got. You can hear the growth in my writing now, as it is impossible to be surrounded by the most talented people in this country and NOT learn something. My second album was released in 2002 and has earned 7 Grammy Nominations. I am proud of where I came from (Remember Me), proud of where I am at (Just Me & My Guitar), and proud of where I know I am going (straight to the very top!).
