"Babylon" (Track 1)
Babylon in the New Testament is referred to as a prostitute and a nation of buyers and sellars which has turned from God to cleave to the evil one. It is the shining city of the world in the end times. The place of all corruption and all material wealth. Anything goes in Babylon, for a price. It is the home of the Anti-Christ.
But a storm is coming, there is lightning on the horizon, great winds blow, and the people flee to shelters that won't stand. Some wait and watch the signs and portends.
It is the end of the world that we live in and it won't be long.
In Protestant Christian eschatology, the rapture ("harpazo" in Greek in 1 Thessalonians 4:17) is the name given to the event in which all Christians living on earth are simultaneously transported to Heaven to be with Jesus Christ before the Great Tribulation. Some Catholics believe that it happens post Tribulation.
It is a cataclysmic happening of Biblical proportions ..... We are sitting in Babylon and this is the story.
"Mad in America" (Track2)
This is the anthem for the unemployed IT worker who trained his foreign replacement before being escorted off of the premesis by an armed guard, or the factory worker who's plant and 35 year career went offshore, for the engineer who lost his job when that task was sent overseas to an outsourcing firm. This is an ode to my grandfather who worked long hours in a bakery during the depression, 7 days a week, 12 to 16 hour days, for minimum wages until a union got in to establish a day off for rest and family. This is the story of American Corporate greed, new and old.
"Mad in America" is dedicated to one brave lady who was made redundant by her employer and developed lung cancer while unemployed and underinsured. She loved this song when it was first introduced to her. Donna has now gone home but her memory lives on in this song. We also dedicate "Mad in America" to the IT worker in California who was forced to train his foreign replacement. On the last day of his employment he took his own life in the parking lot. This song is for them and us.
