Description
After the successful release of her debut, The Crushing Weight of Gravity, Raina Rose spent the first six months of 2006 living in her tricked-out mini van, traveling the country and gathering inspiration for her Three Pin release: The Prophet, The Panhandler and The Moon.
Armed with her constellation tattoos and acoustic guitar playing coffee shops, colleges, dive bars, backyards, and festivals like Kerrville and High Sierra, this Portland native wanted to make a record that reflected what she saw in her rearview. She set out to bring the sounds of the road and starry night festival jams into the intimacy of a hushed, familiar coffee house.
The album features international string bender extraordinaire Tony Furtado on banjo, Echo Helstrom/EBGB bassist Will Amend on upright, all the way from Austin, TX Green Mountain Grass's Adam "Pickles" Moss on Fiddle and Heroes & Villians' Ali Ippolito on accordion.
Produced in collaboration with her father Mo (Western & Country music history buff), and featuring original illustrations by Three Pin Artist Giovanni Salimena, The Prophet, The Panhandler and The Moon is a strikingly sweet sophomore album from a serious yet sincere indie-folk-singer.
Raina has a touring habit to feed, so catch her while you can out on the road.
